Designing with Gouache
Service Description
DESIGNING WITH GOUACHE Level: All, but with a knowledge, even a beginner level, of lettering. We will be learning about using color with your favorite hand, so bring your familiar lettering tools. Course Description: Gouache can provide limitless possibilities when working in color. This class will show how to mix and use it with pointed or broad pen, and give you ideas for using it in multiple ways to add a punch of color to your work. We will do several projects to explore the potential for blending color. You will learn: 1. How to mix gouache to achieve the color you are seeking to match, by using the basics of color theory. 2. How to choose color palettes, to evoke a feeling or emotion. 3. Write a piece of text with a variety of colors, blending them to achieve a unified composition. 4. Writing a piece of text on curved lines, melding colors as you progress through the writing. I will be using a pointed pen for the demos, but the projects can be easily done with a broad pen as well. Guide lines will be provided for both types of lettering. Date and Time: The class will be two 2-hour sessions on THURSDAY, January 23 and FRIDAY, January 24. You must load Zoom on your computer, please email me if you need help setting this up. Supplies: A good layout bond paper will be fine for practice, such as Canson Pro-Marker Layout Bond. It handles water media well. Or any paper you are used to for working in ink. Better quality paper, such as Stonehenge or Arches WaterColor Paper, hot press, would work for more finished pieces, light weight will be fine.
